World leader in (f)NIRS measurements

At Artinis, we strive to make optical imaging easy – for everyone and everywhere. For more than two decades, we have been providing user-friendly, high-tech solutions for (f)NIRS measurements and radiological quality management.

High comfort, easy to use

Our latest customer survey revealed that 80% of our users take less than 10 min to set up their (f)NIRS device. Further, our optodes are designed for maximum comfort without applying pressure to the subject.

Truly portable — Measurements in any settings

Our devices are truly portable and wireless, weighing less than 300 g —all included. This enables you to measure in any setting, even during movement.

Reliable data quality

With our devices, we show that easy usability does not restrict the highest data quality. We implement various technologies in our devices and software to ensure reliable data quality for all measurement locations and participants.

Artinis goes Medical –

CE marked portable NIRS device

We are proud that with our MediBrite, we offer the first European portable medical NIRS device. The MediBrite is CE marked according to Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745. It is the perfect fit for clinical research, as it is truly portable, easy to use, and can be applied to subjects of all age ranges and on any cortical brain region.

More than 25 years of experience

Coming from the research field ourselves, we understand your needs and desires. We are proud to closely work together with universities and institutes and to be involved in various scientific projects around the globe, to contribute to bringing (f)NIRS research one step further. In 2021, we received ISO 13485:2016 certification for our quality management system, following from audit by the notified body Dekra.

Providing high-quality customer support is our top priority. With decades of experience using NIRS, we can offer online and on-site research consultancies, live product demos, and extensive support material to help you in the best possible way with your research. We strive to offer perfect customer-individual solutions for every type of research. Therefore, our devices are used in a huge range of application areas.

Trusted by researchers worldwide

Artinis is relied upon by over 400 top international universities, clinics, and companies. Our devices are used in over 40 different countries globally, and thanks to our customers, we are proud to be world-leading in (portable) NIRS publications.

What is NIRS?

Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), the technique on which Artinis devices e.g., the Brite and PortaLite are based, relies mainly on two characteristics of human tissue. First, the relative transparency of tissue to light in the NIR range. Second, the oxygenation-dependent light-absorbing characteristics of hemoglobin. By using several different wavelengths, the relative changes in oxy,- and deoxyhemoglobin concentrations can be displayed continuously. Optical oximetry, and near-infrared spectroscopy in particular, is a tool for assessing the oxygenation status and hemodynamics of various organs, e.g. muscle and brain. Using the NIRS principle, it becomes possible to monitor changes in oxy- and deoxyhemoglobin in a non-invasive, affordable way in either the lab or in the field without the need for specially trained personnel.

Introducing the new gold standard of muscle oxygenation measurements. With a myriad of improvements, the PortaMon MKIII now comes with features such as short separation channels to ensure high data quality, while remaining lighter than its predecessor. The new sleek design is sweat-proof, and made for movement and exercise. The included SunShield protectors, body straps, and an ergonomic muscle fit allow the device to stay comfortably in place, no matter where you attach it. And that's not even all there is to say.
